Two Smyrna Bank Robbery Suspects In Custody

The two separate bank robberies do not appear to be connected by anything except extraordinary coincidences.

Two men who allegedly robbed two different Smyrna banks within a day of one another are now behind bars, authorities say.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and WSB-TV report that 18-year-old Kentrell Allen and 28-year-old Terrence Robinson independently tried to rob different financial institutions in Smyrna on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the AJC, the first bank robbery began at approximately 12:30 p.m. on July 16, when Allen allegedly walked into Fifth Third Bank inside the Kroger in the 3200 block of South Cobb Drive. Allen allegedly handed a teller a note demanding money, but left the bank before receiving any. Police responded to the scene and apprehended Allen as he tried to escape.

The next morning at about 9:45, police say that Robinson walked into the Wells Fargo in the same 3200 block of South Cobb Drive and presented a teller with a note demanding money. This time, the bank robber got his loot, and fled the scene before the police showed up.

Amazingly enough, when Smyrna and Cobb County authorities caught up with Robinson, he was inside the Kroger that Allen had tried to rob the day before. Robinson, who WSB-TV reports was carrying his ill-gotten gains in a bag after changing his clothes in the Kroger bathroom, surrendered without a fight when confronted by the police.

Allen, who lives in Marietta,Β has been charged with robbery and willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Robinson, who hails from St. Louis, MO, faces charges of robbery.
