Warrant: $6,900 Stolen from Exchange Student

A Smyrna woman faces a charge of theft.

A Smyrna woman allegedly stole $6,900 from an exchange student who had only been in the United States for three days.

The exchange student from China was at the Marietta Walmart at 210 Cobb Pkwy. when she had some difficulty at the self checkout counter, according to an arrest warrant. As she received instructions from customer service, the exchange student placed her handbag on the counter.

That is when Tiffany Tumlin allegedly stole the handbag when no one was watching, concealed it in a Walmart bag and left the store, according to the warrant. The exchange student had $6,900 in the bag.

Tumlin was arrested Friday on a charge of theft. She was released Saturday from the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
