Woman Dies in Smyrna Accident

Luca Kosic of Marietta was killed in a two-car collision on Smyrna Powder Springs Road late Christmas Eve.

A Marietta woman died late Christmas Eve in a two-car collision on Smyrna Powder Springs Road, and Cobb Police say poor weather conditions, including dense fog, were a contributing factor.

Luca Kosic, 46, of Marietta, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at the intersection of Smryna Powder Springs Road and Trellis Oaks Drive, according to Cobb Police spokesman Michael Bowman.

He said Kosic was a passenger in a gold 1999 Toyota Camry traveling southbound on Smyrna Powder Springs Road shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday when it was struck by a maroon 1994 Toyota Camry heading northbound.

Mara Tadic, the driver of the 1999 Camry, and three other passengers in her car, Andeiko Tadic, 23, of Acworth, Angelina Tadic, 27, of Acworth, and a 16-year-old juvenile, were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and treated for minor injuries, police said.

Huy Q. Tran, 39, of Austell, the driver of the 1994 Camry, also was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.

Bowman said the car Tran was driving veered over a double yellow line and partially into the southbound lane, striking the vehicle with the five occupants.

He said no charges have been made as Cobb Police continue the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 770-499-3987.

How sad. I used to drive that street everyday to work, and I know that curve quite well.

May Luca rests in peace and her loved ones, family, friends, especially those who were with her in the car find comfort in The Lord, as this accident happened several feet from my driveway and all we could was pray when we went outside and saw the scene. The fog was very thick and I just made it home with my fiancee about 30 minutes earlier. It appeared that the driver of the maroon car either drove very fast around that curve and lost control or was turning into my subdvision, as there is no outlet. Definitely there should be a charged of vehichle manslaughter coupled with an illegal left turn or crossing the double-line. Hopefully, the truth about what happened comes out and the appropriate charges are filed.

Are these the apartments that were once called "Garrison Plantation"?
Lissa K. June 15, 2013 at 09:32 pm
This is Garrison Plantation - Garrison Lakes - Lakefront Vista. I lived there when it was familyRead More owned. It went from sister to brother then sold. Changed name from Garrison Plantation (because it wasn't PC) (but no one thought about what a garrison was) to Garrison Lakes (there's only one lake) to Lakefront Vista (under new ownership.) It's a dump now. The layout and size of the apts. are great. Even the location is great. Still know some people there. But it went downhill.

I'd rather answer the question "How do you feel about Roswell Street Baptist Church?" MyRead More answer: can't stand it. This incident is just another in its long and bigoted history. During the anti gay lifestyle debacle it gave out copies of the 10 Commandments. That anti gay resolution drafted by Gordon Wysong and enacted by the Cobb Co. Commissioners cost the county an Olympic venue. Whenever I hear about that church I think of the OM who called the church's prominent members The Marietta Mafia!

Its sad, that young people who are gay and often struggle to accept themselves as they are, faceRead More such fury and rejection by a church that preaches love, compassion and forgiveness for most but not all. No wonder many young people, the vast majority of whom are or will be heterosexual find the church increasingly irrelevant in their lives with attitudes like this.
