This week's happenings include two business association luncheons, two town hall meetings and the kickoff of the Smyrna Produce Market.

Good morning, Smyrna-Vinings! Let’s take a look at the week ahead.

April has five Mondays this year, which means no Smyrna City Council meeting tonight. The next meeting will be Monday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Even though there’s no meeting scheduled, Smyrna’s Ward 3 Council Representative isn’t taking the night off. Teri Anulewicz is holding a Fifth Monday Meeting for Ward 3 residents. The meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m. at the conference room. Smryna-Vinings Patch will have coverage of the meeting Tuesday.

The Vinings Business Association holds its monthly lunch meeting Tuesday at . This month’s guest speaker is Emmy Award winning meteorologist Paul Ossman. Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. Guests are asked to RSVP in advance and the cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. 

holds its annual town hall meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m in the school cafeteria. Parents are invited to and 2012-2013 enrollment.

Alison Bartlett will hold a town hall meeting for Post 7 schools Thursday, May 3 at 6 p.m. at . Most of the school’s Bartlett represents are in central Cobb, but two Smyrna schools, Norton Park and , fall within her district.

Thursday is also the day for the 28th annual Cobb County Prayer Breakfast at the . The breakfast begins bright and early at 6:30 p.m. This year’s keynote speaker is Stephen Kendrick, a Smyrna native and film writer and producer of the Christian films “Fireproof” and “Courageous.” Tickets to the event are $25. Smyrna Business Association meets Thursday at the for its monthly lunch meeting. This month’s meeting features and update and review of the state legislative session that wrapped up last month. Members pay $12 and should RSVP online before the meeting. Non-members pay $20 at the door.

The weekend may seem years away, but there’s a lot going on in Smyrna-Vinings. Saturday is the season kickoff for the Smyrna Fresh Produce Market. The market will be held each Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon throughout the summer at the parking lot of . The market features organic and conventional produce sold by local growers.

The is also this weekend. The two-day tournament gets underway Saturday at  with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Participants receive a continental breakfast and on-course lunch and refreshments. Sunday the tournament again gets underway at 9 a.m. and includes a continental breakfast and a buffet lunch.
