Campbell Road Bridge to Close Soon

Construction on Spring Road continues and by late October it is anticipated the new pedestrian bridge over the CSX railroad tracks will be completed.

In a little more than three weeks, motorists and pedestrians will need to use an alternate route than Campbell Road to get back and forth between Spring Road and Atlanta Road.

On Aug. 1 the Campbell Road bridge will be closed as construction of the Campbell Road CSX Bridge project will begin in earnest. The project, approved in the 2005 SPLOST, will involve the replacement of the existing bridge over the CSX railroad. The new bridge will accommodate sidewalks for pedestrian traffic.

Smyrna Councilwoman Melleny Pritchett has remarked that the “Campbell Road bridge will be impassable for a couple of months during a five-month period.’’
