Cobb Road Work, Lane Closures

The following road work will be done in Cobb County from Monday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Nov. 2, according to JoAnn Birrell, Woody Thompson and Helen Goreham.

Barrett Parkway Construction

NB Barrett Pkwy (Burnt Hickory Road to US 41: You can expect periodic lane closures northbound between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. between Burnt Hickory Road and Cobb Parkway (US 41).  One lane will remain open at all times as the contractor performs grading operations, wall construction and storm drainage work. Various utility companies will be relocating services which should not affect your service.

SB Barrett Pkwy (Cobb Place to Burnt Hickory Road: Also anticipate periodic lane closures southbound from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Cobb Place and Burnt Hickory Road with one lane remaining open at all times.

Jamerson Road/Wigley Road Construction Update

Canton Road to Trickum Road: This section of construction is substantially complete. The contractor will be fine grading, grassing and working on punchlist items.

Trickum Road to Jims Road: This section of construction is substantially complete. The contractor will be fine grading, grassing and working on punchlist items.

Jims Road to Sandy Plains Road: Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wigley Road with one lane remaining open at all times for your commute. The contractor will be placing final pavement striping in this area.

Floyd Road Construction Update

Clay Road to Hicks Road: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. The contractor will be installing new water main, storm drainage and grading. Utility companies will be relocating services, which should not affect your service.

Hicks Road Sidewalks Construction Update

Frontier Trail to Floyd Oaks Drive: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. The contractor will be installing storm drainage, curb, gutter and sidewalk north of the East-West Connector. Utility companies will begin relocating services, which should not affect your service.

Asphalt Paving

Asphalt paving operations and shoulder rehabilitation, which will include lane closures with one lane remaining open at all times, are scheduled on the following roads:

• Brookwood Drive from East-West Connector to dead end
• Nickajack Road from Floyd Road to Cooper Lake Road
• South Hurt Road from Concord Road to Hurt Road
• Furr Avenue from Oglesby Road to Austell-Powder Springs Road
• Frank Aiken Road from Oglesby Road to Powder Springs city limits
