DOT to Widen Cobb Parkway

The project will be completed by June 2016.

A 1-mile stretch of Cobb Parkway between Paces Mill and Akers Mill roads is getting an upgrade.

Georgia Department of Transportation officials said Wednesday that they plan to spend $12.4 million in federal and state money to widen it from five lanes to six lanes, according to the Marietta Daily Journal.

By the time the project is completed in June 2016, Cobb Parkway will have three travel lanes in each direction instead of two, according to the MDJ.

The project will cost Cobb County nothing.
