Food items made for Smyrna distribution center business recalled

Some 40 items sold at Starbucks, RaceTracs and other locations in Georgia, Alabama and Florida have been recalled.

Update at 10:02 a.m. RaceTrac Petroleum, Inc., which is headquartered at 3225 Cumberland Blvd., has issued a response about the recalled items:

“RaceTrac considers the safety of our guests and in-store team members of paramount importance. On July 25, 2011, prior to any official announcement, we learned of a pending voluntary product recall of USDA/FDA-regulated food distributed in Georgia by one of our food suppliers, Flying Food Group. As a proactive measure to protect the best interest of our guests, RaceTrac preemptively removed all products prepared and provided by Flying Food Group from our 65 Georgia stores on July 25. No other RaceTrac products or markets were impacted. Any reports to the contrary are incorrect.

"As a result of our earlier actions, none of the products produced in the impacted facility are available in our Georgia stores. Further, we will not return any products from that supplier to the shelves until we are assured they meet RaceTrac's high quality and safety standards.
