Meet the Candidates: Vic Yankouski

In our continuing coverage of the 2011 election, Smyrna-Vinings Patch provides here a profile of one of the four candidates for Smyrna city council's Ward 7.

Smyrna’s general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011 and a record 19 candidates are on the ballot. In their words, candidates will be introducing themselves here at Patch. Today, we have Ward 7 city council candidate Vic Yankouski, who is running against Ron Fennel, Garry Osborne and Ziad Salameh.

 

Vic Yankouski has lived in Smyrna for more than twenty years, and has been a Cobb County resident for more than thirty years. Vic holds a degree in Economics and a M.E. from Georgia Tech. In 2010, he retired after a 30-year career as an engineer. He intends to work full-time representing the citizens of Ward 7 on the Smyrna city council, spending the time and energy necessary to get the job done.

Smyrna's city council members need to see to it that existing zoning laws are enforced. Heavy industrial enterprise should not be next to or in the midst of residential areas. The Fall leaf pick-up program needs to be reinstated.

Vic will work with the railroad to ensure that railroad cars are not parked on tracks in Smyrna for long periods of time and to guarantee that any necessary delay does not involve cars that carry hazardous contents.

Vic strongly supports and appreciates the members of the and s, and will make sure that the men and women who protect Smyrna and its citizens have everything they need to continue their excellent service.

Vic's background in economics will enable him to work out budgets that allow us to continue to enjoy Smyrna's quality of life without increasing taxes. 

Last, but certainly not least, Vic Yankouski believes that the business of Smyrna's citizens should be conducted openly and with input from those whom it impacts.

Vic Yankouski will be a strong voice for Smyrna's Ward 7.
