The Smyrna City Council is set to meet tonight; readers are reminded of the Patch Terms of Use.

It’s Monday, so that means another Smyrna City Council meeting is set for tonight at 7:30 at City Hall. See the agenda here and the public is invited to attend. Patch will have more meeting coverage later Monday.

But you don’t have to miss a thing even if you decide not to. Charter Communications Public Access Channel 19 carries each meeting live and usually the replay will air the following Monday at 7 p.m. See the TV23 section at www.cobbcounty.org for a complete rebroadcast schedule.

  • The storms that blew through the metro Atlanta area Saturday night resulted in , and left many Smyrna residents without power more than 24 hours later. At 9 p.m. Sunday, of the 1000 Georgia Power customers in the metro area without power, 650 were in the Jonquil City. At 7:20 a.m. Monday, Georgia Power told Smyrna-Vinings Patch that ll power had been restored in the area.
  • The application period for school-choice transfers within Cobb County opens today and runs through July 1. Applications are available at the Cobb County School District website and can be submitted by mail, in person or by fax. More details are available here.
  • And if you missed it over the weekend, Smyrna-Vinings Patch was home to some spirited debate among its users on a variety of topics. So spirited that two story threads were shut down due to excessive violations the Patch Terms of Use.

As communicated on Sunday, Patch will be perusing over the 1000-plus stories at the Smyrna-Vinings site this week to “clean up’’ story threads that could possibly include comments that have violated the Patch Terms of Use.
