New Smyrna City Council Members To Be Sworn In Tuesday

Mayor Max Bacon and all seven council members will take their oaths of office during the first city council meeting of 2012.

As a result of the 2011 elections, Smyrna will have four new city council members taking office next week.

Outgoing councilmen Mike McNabb, Ron Newcomb, Jimmy Smith and Charles Pete Wood attended their final council meeting on Dec. 19.

On Tuesday, Jan. 3, Mayor Max Bacon and all seven council members will be sworn into office. It will take place at at 7:30 p.m. and the council will then get down to business with the first council meeting of 2012.

The four new council members include Andrea Blustein, Ward 2; Corkey Welch, Ward 4, Susan Wilkinson, Ward 5; and Ron Fennel, Ward 7. They will join returning council members Melleny Pritchett, Ward 1; Teri Anulewicz, Ward 3; and Wade Lnenicka, Ward 6.

On Tuesday, Mayor Bacon is also expected to assign new committee responsibilities to all seven council members.

“I feel re-energized,’’ Bacon said recently. “I think we’ll all hit the ground running, and from what I can tell, I think the new council members will be up for the task.’’
