A $41 million project to address heavy traffic congestion and high crash rates along a 1.43-mile stretch of Windy Hill Road will include wider roads, medians and a new interchange at Interstate 75.

So reports The Marietta Daily Journal on Monday, as the multi-faceted improvement project involves a stretch from Cobb Parkway to Powers Ferry Road. It is expected to be completed by summer 2017, not long after the proposed Atlanta Braves' Stadium opens.

The MDJ goes on to add that the project will be funded by the 2011 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, the Cumberland Community Improvement District, the Georgia Department of Transportation and $1 million coming from grants by the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank.

According to the news outlet, design work has been underway since 2011 and that the I-75 intersection with Windy Hill Road ranked as the highest crash location in Cobb county. Read more here.

Doesn't matter. It won't be enough to deal with 30,000 extra cars crammed into the Cobb Cloverleaf for a 5:00 game. Moving the stadium to Cobb is the worst traffic decision ever made, yet the Braves claim this move was about lessening congestion. smh.

This is a criminal scam and those responsible should do hard jail time. Its a rip off.

It really needs to open beforehand. There should be ample time to get that done. They just need to get creative.
