Smyrna Market Village Looks for Construction Waiver

The waiver would allow construction and maintenance work on two buildings to be performed on Sundays.

The Homeowner Association Board of Smyrna Market Village has petitioned the City of Smyrna for waivers which will allow construction and maintenance work on Sundays.

According to a letter submitted to Community Development Director Ken Suddreth on Oct. 31, the Board is asking for the waivers to perform construction and maintenance on buildings III and IV in the center of downtown.

Building III is located at 1290 W. Spring St., (Smyrna School of Ballet), and Building IV is located at 1265 W. Spring St. (D'chel Spa).

Some of the work mentioned in the letter includes removal and rebuilding of the pergolas, replacing rotting wood, and painting both buildings. The Board would like to see Sunday construction allowed so workers can,Β "complete the work as efficiently and expeditiously as possible."

If approved by the Smyrna City Council during their Nov. 4 meeting, construction and maintenance would be allowed on Nov. 17, Nov. 24, Dec. 1, Dec. 8, and Dec. 15.

Another proposal on the council's agenda for tonight (which is attached to this article) is the rezoning of almost 82 acres of land from Planned Village Community to allow the construction of the Riverview Landing mixed-use development along the Chattahoochee River.

The Smyrna City Council will meet to discuss and vote on these issues and others at Smyrna City Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4.
