Mayor to Recognize Smyrna Teachers, Students

City of Smyrna Mayor Max Bacon and council members will hold an Education Awards Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. today at the City Hall, followed by the regular City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m.

Outstanding students, staff members and volunteers from 12 Smyrna area schools in the Cobb County School District in addition to a public charter school, the International Academy of Smyrna, will be recognized for their academic achievement, dedication and volunteer service.

Bacon created the Mayor's Education Award program in late 2005 to acknowledge the academic achievement, outstanding service and contributions of Smyrna educators, students and volunteers.
