Spring Road Closed to Westbound Traffic this Weekend

There will be only one eastbound lane open on Spring Road this weekend while workers install the Spring Road pedestrian bridge.

City of Smyrna officials are preparing drivers for what are likely to be “significant delays and traffic congestion” this weekend while the Spring Road pedestrian bridge is installed.

Beginning at about 7 a.m. Saturday, May 5, city officials will close Spring Road to westbound traffic at Village Parkway. Drivers will be detoured via Village Parkway to Windy Hill Road to Atlanta Road. Local traffic can access businesses between Village Parkway and the Spring Road Bridge.

Eastbound traffic will be limited to one lane along the Concord Road/Spring Road corridor. Cones will be placed on Concord Road starting at the intersection of King Springs Road to narrow traffic down to one lane.

In an email to Ward 3 residents, Council Representative Teri Anulewicz said 10 Smyrna police officers and a traffic control contractor will be placed at strategic intersections to help direct traffic, however significant delays are still expected.
