The Week Ahead for Smyrna-Vinings

Food trucks, forums and more are on the week's agenda for Smyrna-Vinings.

It looks like everyone’s recovered from the weekend and Fourth of July celebrations as this week’s agenda is chock full.

Monday Smyrna’s Planning and Zoning Board meets for its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. at Smyrna City Hall. The only item on the agenda is an amendment to the city’s zoning designation that allows day nurseries in residential areas. City staff proposed some clarifying language to the amendment at the last Planning and Zoning meeting held June 11. At that time, the board could not reach a conclusion so the measure was tabled.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners meets Tuesday at the Commissioners Meeting Room in the Cobb County Office at 100 Cherokee Street in Marietta. The meeting begins at 9 a.m.

Later that evening in the same room, the Cobb County Civic Coalition hosts a Cobb County Chairman Candidate Forum. The forum begins at 7 p.m. and will be televised on Cobb TV 23 or catch the live stream at www.cobbcounty.org/tv23.

It’s also the first night for . The event is at Taylor Brawner Park and begins at 6 p.m. and goes till 9 p.m. . Parking is limited so walking is encouraged.

Thursday, Smyrna Mayor Max Bacon will give his annual state of the city address at 11:45 a.m. at the . Smyrna-Vinings Patch will have coverage of the address.
