Update on Paces Ferry Road Closure

The closures scheduled to end on Tuesday may continue due to inclement weather.

Patch received the following information about 4:30 p.m. from Cobb County Communications Director Robert Quigley:

Today CSX informed Commissioner Bob Ott’s office that Paces Ferry Road may be closed beyond the Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 dates. Any delay would be due to poor weather conditions. CSX is making every effort to complete their maintenance within the original timeframe. This work will address the multiple closings of the crossing that have occurred over the past few weeks.

Some background on this:

Paces Ferry Road between Cumberland Parkway and Paces Mill Road is the affected area for the maintenance of the CSX crossing. Ott's office indicated last week that "an electronic message board at Cumberland
Parkway and Paces Ferry Road will alert eastbound traffic the road is closed. Static signs on Paces Mill Road in advance of Paces Ferry Road will alert westbound traffic the road is closed. Planned detour signage will be posted as Paces Mill Road to Cobb Parkway to Cumberland Blvd. to Cumberland Parkway, and the reverse.

"If you have any questions about the maintenance work at the crossing you may call Craig Camuso in Government Affairs with CSX at
404-350-5227."
