Water leak repair set for Smyrna subdivision

There could be service interruption for Forest Hills residents on Thursday.

A water leak in the area of the Forest Hills subdivision could result in residents not having water for parts of Thursday. But Smyrna Water and Sewer Supervisor David Perry hopes that won’t be the case.

Signs popped up on Ashwood Drive this week informing residents of a possible water service interruption on Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Perry said he’s had several calls this week about the possible interruption in service.

“We put the signs out there as a warning,’’ he said. “We’re showing a valve over there that has a quarter of a gallon an hour leak on it. We’ve got to dig down to it and we may not have to turn the water off at all.’’

The leak is coming from a line valve and if Perry’s crew can’t fix it without extended service interruption, then they may have to come back at a later time period to correct the leak.

“If we can’t fix it, we’ll turn it off just long enough to find out exactly what needs to get turned off,’’ he said. “Then we’ll turn it back on, and put out letters to let everybody know for sure when it’s going to be turned off.’’
