What You Need to Know About Labor Day in Smyrna

Labor Day means some disruptions in city services such as trash pick up and records administration.

Labor Day will be observed on Monday, Sept. 2, and that means that government offices, including Smyrna's, will be closed. However, there's more to the changes, including different pick up days for garbage.

On Sept. 2, the city's administrative offices will be closed, along with some non-essential public service components such as the police records department. Essential public safety services will operate as normal.

The recycling center, Brawner Hall, the community center, the Wolfe Recreation Facility, and all aquatic centers will be closed on Labor Day.

Tolleson Pool will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.

Sanitation will not operate on Labor Day, which will push some garbage pick up days back. Monday pickups will be conducted on Tuesday, and Tuesday pickups will occur on Wednesday. No other service changes are expected. Additionally, there will be no yard waste collection at all next week.

As Labor Day is a federal holiday, all banks and post offices will be closed as well.
