Campbell Cares and it Shows

School program challenges students to serve both Campbell High School and the Smyrna community.

As the school year winds down, it’s a good opportunity to recognize the school and community-wide service program, “Campbell Cares.’’

This year, Principal Grant Rivera challenged the school’s students to participate in at least 20 hours of service during the 2010-2011 school year to benefit both CHS and Smyrna community.

Last fall, more than 800 people showed up to participate in projects, including landscaping at both at CHS and throughout the Smyrna community, holding a food and clothing drive, writing holiday cards to the Center for Children and Young Adults, and visiting senior care facilities.

Here in the spring, the program focused on the school with students cleaning, painting, planting and landscaping courtyards there.

Students who participated in at least 20 hours of community service were recognized at last week’s honors and awards program, and seniors who completed the community service hours will also be recognized at the May 28 graduation.
