Cobb School Board Gathers to Discuss Hinojosa

Board still uncertain how to approach naming a successor the superintendent who announced his resignation last week.

All seven members of the Cobb school board met in Marietta Saturday for a closed-door special session to talk about possible actions to take in the wake of Superintendent Michael Hinojosa’s surprise resignation last week.

The board, who met for approximately two hours, is expected to vote on Wednesday whether or not to accept the superintendent’s resignation.

Hinojosa said at last Monday’s board meeting he would step down at the end of May, although his contract calls for him to work until the end of the year.

It’s not known how the board will proceed in choosing the next superintendent. They could conduct a national search as they did with Hinojosa in bringing him in from Texas, or they could name a new superintendent from within the district.
