Under the last proposal, and Fitzhugh Lee H.A.V.E.N. Academy in Smyrna will be closed. Brown students would attend the new Smyrna elementary school set to open in 2013. Meanwhile, , currently at 4400 West Atlanta Road, would shift its students four miles away to Brown while its current campus would be put up for sale.

District officials would like to hear additional input from parents, whose children attend the affected elementary schools. No final decisions have been made regarding the proposed redistricting plan.

In addition to providing input at Wednesday's public forum, parents can submit comments on CCSD's public commenting wall or by emailing redistricting@cobbk12.org.

After reviewing the input from the community, district officials will develop a final proposed redistricting map, which will be presented to the BOE for a vote in February 2012.

Here is a sampling of comments left recently on the CCSD redistricting commenting wall:

A community page, CCSD South County Redistricting, has been created on Facebook for people to have an additional forum. If this discussion could reach more people that are generally concerned for their children's public education in Cobb County, GA. Then, I'm all for it! I hope it can help. Please spread the word and let's see if social media can work to getting us closer to the best education possible!

Parent | King Springs
I am asking that you keep the Vinings Glen neighborhood in King Springs. I realize that there are only about 8 kids but all of the families have been extremely involved with the PTA and the school. We take great pride in our children and their education. We have been fortunate enough to have one child attend King Springs and our youngest is there now. I cannot imagine having to go to a different school. We can do without bus service, just please don't ask our children to move! I feel equally bad for the new families with young children that have moved into the neighborhood because they were told the elementary school would be King Springs.

Teasley Parent | Teasley
This plan does not address any over crowding at Teasely. The new school will open under capacity while Teasley will still have 5 trailers and operate with 244+ students over capacity. Please help.

Brian | Nickajack
I still do not like how plan 3 does not touch Teasley. What's your concern about sending some of Teasley's district to Nickajack to balance things a bit? Teasley is overcrowded. You should not be playing favoritism for Teasley based on demographics. Some of the Southern Teasley zones are a faster commute to Nickajack.

parent | Belmont Hills
Please keep all of Pinehill in the new Smyrna School! It was very disappointing to see the new redistricting plan. Please reconsider and do not go with this plan. Cheney Woods should not be split up! These parents and children would add much to the new school. They were so excited to be included in Plan A. Please include all of Pinehill in the final draft.

Concerned Parent | Brown
I am very frustrated with everything that is going on. I would like a direct answer (and if I have missed it in a post I apologize) for WHY these forums are being had. It seems to me that it must be a legal issue for the County because the voices of the people are not being recognized. Are these meetings just being held because they are forcing the County Board of Education to do so to comply with regulations? I'm tired of answers that dance around that question. We would rather have direct truth than to be mislead repeatedly.
