Going Green and Looking Good

Campbell students get environmentally friendly, but did they wear those dresses to prom?

Fashion rules…and it can be environmentally friendly, too, as fashion marketing and merchandising students now know.

For their project, inspired by American designers who have recently reused newspapers, cans, bottles, rubber, and cardboard for clothing or building materials, the students designed and produced three dresses out of newspaper and eclectic accessories.

The purpose was to reuse materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. According to the Green Living Review, the average person throws away about four pounds of trash per day. Many of these items could be reused in creative, innovative ways, including making clothing.
