Lady Spartans Advance to Title Game

Campbell faces rival South Cobb in tonight's championship of the Campbell Holiday Classic.

Senior Baylee Hawkins scored 11 points and handed out seven assists to lead to a 54-27 win over Creekside High Thursday in the Campbell Holiday Classic.

The Lady Spartans, 4-6, will face Region 4-AAAAA rival South Cobb in tonight’s championship game at 7. Campbell upset the Lady Eagles 49-38 at South Cobb in a region game on Dec. 6.

In Thursday’s win, D’Asia Cain scored a game-high 14 points while Diamond Freeman was strong on the boards with nine rebounds for the Lady Spartans.

The Campbell boys fell 61-57 to Forest Park on Thursday to drop to 5-5 on the season. Tristan Cameron scored 22 points to pace the Spartans, who will face Washington in today’s third-place game at 5:30 p.m. Forest Park will face Pope at 8:30 for the tournament championship.

Elsewhere, Noah Dickerson, a 6-foot-6 freshman, was named to the Holiday Classic all-tournament team after leading the Lions to a second-place finish.

Lovett lost 66-49 to Alpharetta in the tournament finals Thursday after an opening round win over and an overtime victory over Wesleyan.

At 6-6 on the year, Lovett resumes play Tuesday at home with a 6-AA region game against Buckhead archrival Westminster.

And in Spartanburg, S.C., Whitefield Academy fell 58-55 to McEachern High in the Upward Classic on Thursday. The Wolfpack went 1-2 in three tournament games in South Carolina. The lone win came Wednesday in a 61-47 victory over host Spartanburg High as Kenneth Gaines scored 27 points and Jordan Coar added 13 points.

This is Garrison Plantation - Garrison Lakes - Lakefront Vista. I lived there when it was familyRead More owned. It went from sister to brother then sold. Changed name from Garrison Plantation (because it wasn't PC) (but no one thought about what a garrison was) to Garrison Lakes (there's only one lake) to Lakefront Vista (under new ownership.) It's a dump now. The layout and size of the apts. are great. Even the location is great. Still know some people there. But it went downhill.

I'd rather answer the question "How do you feel about Roswell Street Baptist Church?" MyRead More answer: can't stand it. This incident is just another in its long and bigoted history. During the anti gay lifestyle debacle it gave out copies of the 10 Commandments. That anti gay resolution drafted by Gordon Wysong and enacted by the Cobb Co. Commissioners cost the county an Olympic venue. Whenever I hear about that church I think of the OM who called the church's prominent members The Marietta Mafia!

Its sad, that young people who are gay and often struggle to accept themselves as they are, faceRead More such fury and rejection by a church that preaches love, compassion and forgiveness for most but not all. No wonder many young people, the vast majority of whom are or will be heterosexual find the church increasingly irrelevant in their lives with attitudes like this.
