The Osborne High School Volunteer Income Tax Center is ready to help last-minute filers prepare their federal and state tax returns.

Osborne’s Tax Center is an official IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) center, offering free income tax preparation to low- moderate income taxpayers.

The center is operated by staff and students of Osborne High School. Osborne’s VITA center is hosted by St. Philip UMC, located at 2400 Favor Road, Marietta, GA 30060. Osborne’s tax preparers have been assisting clients throughout the filing season and will be open through the filing deadline of April 15.

Taxpayers that need more information or would like to make an appointment can call 678-468-6352.

Osborne’s tax center has been in operation since 2011 and is the only volunteer tax preparation site in the state hosted by a high school. It is one of approximately forty VITA centers located in the metro area.

All Atlanta VITA centers are supported by the United Way of Greater of Atlanta. Since its inception, Osborne students have prepared almost 700 tax returns, yielding refunds over $500,000, and saving taxpayers thousands in preparation fees. The center is run in conjunction with the school’s business education curriculum.

In addition to tax preparation experience, students develop office competencies such as marketing, data and records management, scheduling, and reporting. Business Education teacher Michael Devault serves as the center’s site coordinator and oversees all aspects of its operations.
