Smyrna Student Wins Kiwanis Georgia Music Showcase

Zachary Smith, a South Cobb High School senior, was sponsored by Smyrna Kiwanis Club Division 15 as the Georgia District of Kiwanis held its annual Art and Music Showcase Competition last weekend.

On Saturday, April 26, the Georgia District of Kiwanis held its annual Art and Music Showcase Competition in Carrollton.

The Georgia District Kiwanis Foundation provided a total of $15,000 in Educational Scholarships - $7,500 in the Art Contest and $7,500 in the Music Contest. The first-place award in each contest received an educational scholarship in the amount of $3,500.

The 2014 Music Showcase first place award was won by Zachary Smith of Smyrna. Smith, who played Nocturne Op. 9 no. 2, by Chopin on the piano, is a senior at South Cobb High School and will attend Mercer University in the fall. He was sponsored by Smyrna Kiwanis Club Division 15.

This opportunity provided by the Kiwanis Foundation follows the Motto "Serving the Children of the World" as it applies to building of self-esteem and all-around development of the youth of our community.
