Speaking of fall fests, the second annual Kickball Classic and Fall Festival benefiting the Nickajack Elementary Foundation last Sunday was a big success and lots of fun.

For the second year in a row, the Vinings Estates team won the eight-team kickball tournament, but not without a lot of competition from the runner-ups, “We Got The Runs,’’ led by Nickajack PE teacher, Eric Homasky.

Said Meredith Yahne of the NES Foundation, “The Fall Festival was a huge success! Whether you were riding the bull, jousting with friends or getting your face and hair painted by our tireless volunteers, we are so glad you came to join us!

“Thank you to all of our volunteers and our sponsors! The support of our community businesses is critical to our success and we truly appreciate everything you do for us.”

Be Hallo-green this year! Throughout October, Macaroni Kid and Febreze will participate in National Costume Swap Day events. Smyrna Vinings Marietta Macaroni Kid will hold a swap this Sunday at Moore's of Atlanta, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

A costume swap is recycling at its most fun. Kids get new-to-them costumes, and parents get to save money and the planet. So before you toss out that old costume and head to the store to buy a new one, join Smyrna Vinings Marietta Macaroni Kid for a costume swap and free party on Sunday at Moore's of Atlanta, located at 1810 Spring Road in Smyrna.

Not only will kids get to pick out a costume, but there will be fun activities happening at Moore's of Atlanta Chinese Martial Arts as well. There will be mini lessons for kids (drop, kick and roll!), a coloring/activity station, some fun from The Music Studio at Vinings and more. There will be free pizza (while it lasts) from DaVinci’s Pizzeria, too. Plus, the first 50 people to check out will receive a gift bag, which includes, among other things, a bottle of Febreze.

Here is how the swap works:

Participants are encouraged to drop off swap-able, gently used, clean costumes during listed hours at one of these designated locations:

Moore's of Atlanta today and Friday between 4 and 7 p.m. and The Music Studio at Vinings (4895 South Atlanta Road) today and Friday between 2:30 and 6:30 p.m.

In exchange for costume(s) participants will be given a Swap Ticket to be brought back for the event on Sunday. (one ticket per full costume)

Donations will also be taken for Halloween Accessories (all accessories will be free at the swap, no ticket required).

If you would like to take part in the Costume Swap this year, please RSVP HERE. Registration is not required, but it's encouraged and extremely helpful for planning purposes.

Although last minute drops on Sunday are not ideal, if you cannot drop off your costumes during the week, drop offs will be accepted starting at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday at Moore's of Atlanta. No new drop offs after 11:30 a.m. please.
