Parents and students with questions and concerns about 's new tardy policy can come to a meeting Friday, March 9 at 7 p.m. in Room 210 at .
"It's not designed to mount an insurrection, only provide a forum for open discussion and multiple viewpoints on the issues in order to try to find a way to help the students, teachers, and administration so we can restore CHS to the fine school it has always been," said Anita Norman, mother of a Campbell junior and the meeting's organizer.
Attendees are asked to park in the north lot between the church and Market Village.
In other news from Campbell, the school is getting a facelift this weekend thanks to the efforts of several area churches. is a massive collaboration between First Baptist Church of Smyrna, ,, First Priority Ministries and . Volunteers are needed to beautify the school March 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Volunteers will be cleaning, painting and landscaping and are encouraged to bring supplies from home. Childcare is available for children aged two and younger. Older kids are asked to volunteer with their parents. Light snacks and bottled water will be provided to volunteers. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and the day ends with worship service. Those watching the at home this week might have noticed that the mayor looked a little different. That’s because Nirosha Perera, Campbell High School student government president presided over the meeting. Madam Mayor is a senior at Campbell.
“It’s nice having our acting mayor here,” said Scott Cochran, Smyrna city attorney. “It probably brings the IQ of the room up. And I say good luck at Harvard or wherever you decide to go next year.”
Campbell wasn’t the only Smyrna-Vinings school represented at Monday’s meeting. ’s student council presented the character education word. Students performed a rap about commitment and one student read an original essay about the character word.

The Georgia Science Teachers Association named ’s Kelly Bodner Georgia’s 2012 Science Teacher of the Year. Bodner has been teaching for 17 years. GSTA is a nonprofit that seeks to expand levels of student achievement in science.

’s fifth graders are getting into the swing of things Friday, March 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fifth Grade Swing Dance. The dance is free and students are encouraged to come in costumes from the 1940s.
Thursday March 15 is Brown Elementary School Spirit Night at . Brown Elementary Students get to eat for free from the pizza buffet with the purchase of a drink. Be sure to sign in at the door so that a portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit Brown Elementary School PTA.
