Smyrna School Brings Home Basketball Championship

The seventh graders blew out their opponents in the final game of the holiday tournament at Kell High School.

A group of Smyrna seventh graders recently took home the top prize at a basketball tournament held in Cobb County.

The Campbell Junior Spartans throttled the Marietta Junior Blue Devils in the championship game of the William Fox Holiday Classic by a score of 39-24. The tournament was held at East Cobb's Kell High School.

According to the Big Sports Report, the Blue Devils struck first but the Spartans went on a 12-1 run to end the first quarter and were leading 19-8 at halftime. Foul trouble plagued the Blue Devils in the second half and they were never able to close the gap.

The Spartans' top scorer was Marcus Bigsby, who racked up 24 points and shot 67 percent from the free throw line. Christopher Walls added five points of his own.

"Congrats to the 7th grade boys for winning their Christmas Tourney!!!" The Campbell Junior Spartans Basketball Twitter account said. "This is the 2nd year in a row that they have DOMINATED!!!!"
