is going to the dogs for Georgia Homeless Pets Saturday. The Vinings pub is hosting the nonprofit’s from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 3. Supporters of Georgia Homeless Pets can meet two of the shelter’s adoptable pets and win prizes all while enjoying Meehan’s grub and grog.

All the proceeds from Saturday’s event benefit animals like Arthur, a six-year-old bluetick coonhound. He was found wandering the streets and it was later learned that his owner was hospitalized and could no longer take care of him. After he was rescued, volunteers discovered Arthur had some serious health problems.

“We are in desperate needs for funds for paying for our animals care,” said Leigh Ellen, a Georgia Homeless Pets volunteer. “Arthur alone had a vet bill of over a $1,000 to figure out why he was having seizures. That takes a long time to get donations for.”
