Smyrna Auction for Heroes Gala Scores Big

Gala event to benefit the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation nets $33,000.

“It was beyond my wildest dreams; everyone said they were going to bring 15 of their friends next year.’’

That’s what Jim Carter said about last Saturday’s second annual Smyrna Auction for Heroes Gala at Brawner Hall. Carter was the event-chair of the Gala, which was a community-wide, volunteer effort by area residents and businesses to assist our heroes with a fundraiser benefiting the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation (SPSF).

The SPSF is a 501(c) organization that promotes and serves both the City of Smyrna’s public safety employees and the community.

Partygoers enjoyed great food from and outstanding music and entertainment with performances from Wesley Cook and Kingsized and the Dames Aflame. They also bid on live and silent auction goods and services from residents and businesses, and Carter indicated this week that the event netted $33,000 for the SPSF.

“It was such a fun event,’’ Carter said. “So many people said that this is the kind of event that Smyrna has been looking for. We’re already looking forward to next year.’’
