Prospective Parent Coffee, Healthy Holiday Cooking in Smyrna-Vinings This Week

You won't want to miss out on these great events happening around town in the next few days!

1. Learn about St. Benedict's Episcopal Day School during their prospective parent coffee on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 9:30 a.m. The school is currently accepting applications for three-year-old preschool up to seventh grade. The parent coffee will feature current faculty and staff and a campus tour. To RSVP, call 678.279.4300 or visit the school's website.

2. Meet one of the authors of "The Elf on the Shelf" at Barnes & Noble in Marietta at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Chanda Bell will be signing copies of the sequel to "The Elf on the Shelf," titled "The Elf on the Shelf: A Birthday Tradition." One dollar from each book sold will go to a charity providing safe drinking water to developing countries.

3. Learn how to cook healthy, yummy holiday meals on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Emory-Adventist Hospital. The "Healthy Holiday Cooking Class" will be taught by the hospital's dietary director, Jennifer McGlown. McGlown will teach you how to cook new healthy meals and will try to help you make your old standby holiday recipes healthier. Reserve your seat by calling 770-319-2025.

4. Learn more about The SAE School by participating in a walk and talk event at the school's Mableton campus on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 9:30 a.m. Visitors will drop in on classrooms and talk with school administrators. 

5. Learn about the original Smyrna at The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. The cathedral will host a screening of the film "Smyrna: The Destruction of a Cosmopolitan City 1900-1922." This isn't our Smyrna, but the original city that was part of the Ottoman Empire at the time. You can get tickets in advance for $8 or $12 at the door.
