There are quite a few Christmas and non-Christmas events happening in Smyrna-Vinings this week, including a donation event at Taylor-Brawner Park and a bond validation hearing for a local development project.

1. Improve your public speaking at the local Toastmasters' next meeting on Monday, Dec. 16 at 12:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Wildwood Building on Windy Ridge Parkway. Toastmasters is a pressure-free environment which allows members to prepare speeches and tackle their fears of the podium.

2. Share your thoughts on the Riverwalk development during the bond hearing for the site at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Cobb Superior Court. Judge Stoddard will be hearing the case. If Stoddard approves the bonds, the Development Authority of Cobb County will purchase the Riverwalk site and lease it back to the developers, Greenstone Properties at a significant tax savings.

3. Take pictures with Chick-Fil-A's Santa Cow at the chicken restaurant's South Cobb Drive location on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 5 p.m. Santa Cow will be joined by a face painter, a helper elf cow, and he will be bringing lots of treats for all the good little boys and girls who come to visit him.

4. Help out your fellow man at the Christmas at Brawner Coat Drive on Friday, Dec. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Taylor-Brawner Park. Bring a new or gently used coat to the park and enjoy holiday music, activities for the children, hay rides, and more.

5. In case you missed Santa over the weekend, he will be making a return trip to Aunt Fanny's Cabin starting on Friday, Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. He will be there until 8 p.m. hearing children's wish lists, and will return on Saturday at the same times. He is making one absolute-last-minute stop on Dec. 23, but if you can make it out this weekend, Santa's elves have a better chance of getting your child's wish list fulfilled.
