Tree Lightings, Happy Hour for Hope in Smyrna-Vinings This Week

Now, onto the local stuff:

1. Begin the Christmas season with a tree lighting at either Vinings Jubilee, Smyrna Village Green, or Emory-Adventist Hospital. The Village Green tree lighting will be on Tuesday at 7:00, while the Vinings Jubilee and Emory-Adventist events will be held on Thursday. See this article for all the info on Smyrna and Vinings' tree lighting events.

2. Hear the Vinings Business of the Year finalists give brief presentations on their work in the community during the Vinings Business Association's Tuesday luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Social Vinings. The nominees are Bright Side News Vinings, Courtyard Atlanta Vinings Hotel, Delmar Gardens, PrintWave, and Social Vinings.

3. Attend the Mayor's Education Awards Ceremony at Smyrna City Hall on Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The principals of each of Smyrna's 14 schools submitted the names of one student, staff member, and volunteer to be recognized for their contributions to the school. 

4. Shop for Jewelry and Accessories at Emory-Adventist Hospital's Masquerade sale on Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Each item of jewelry or accessory will be sold for exactly $5. The event is being hosted by the hospital's volunteer auxiliary. For more information on the sale, please call 770-438-5233.

5. Help out Needy Families in Smyrna, Vinings and Beyond by attending the inaugural Happy Hour for Hope event at Old Vinings Inn on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring either a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots, a bag of canned goods for MUST Ministries, or a $10 donation.
