Yard Sale, Breast Cancer Recognition Event This Week in Smyrna-Vinings

There's a little something for everyone happening around town this week.

1. The Mableton Improvement Coalition is holding a public forum on Monday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church. The focus of the meeting is ways to preserve two sections the historic Civil War defensive system known as the Chattahoochee River Line, which ran through Mableton and Smyrna-Vinings. 

2. The Cobb Alcohol Task Force will meet at the YWCA of Northwest Georgia in Marietta on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 11:30 a.m. The focus of this month's general meeting is spokesperson training. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP today by contacting petera@cobbat.org.

3. Smyrna Towers is holding a rummage sale (or garage sale, or yard sale; isn't it funny how people from across the country can call the same thing many different names?) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2 and Thursday, Oct. 3 and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Oct. 4. Proceeds from the event will go to the activities fund at Smyrna Towers.

4. Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna will host a lecture entitled "Nutritional Label Clues" on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. Jennifer McGlown, Dietary Director at Emory-Adventist Hospital, will teach you how to quickly and accurately get nutritional information from grocery store food by reading the label on the side or back of the box. Register by calling 770-319-2025.

5. Breast Cancer patients and survivors will be recognized by the Atlanta Pampered Ladies at Brawner Hall on Friday, Oct. 4 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Ladies are asked to wear pink to the event, which will consist of spa treatments, a kickboxing class, catered meals, and shopping. At the ticket window, organizers ask that you mention whether you are a breast cancer patient or survivor.
