Live Christmas Tree Recycling This Weekend

Keep Smyrna Beautiful is giving out free tree seedlings at the Cumberland Home Depot for residents who bring a Christmas tree to be recycled.

The City of Smyrna and the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation are joining forces to provide free live Christmas tree disposal services during this weekend's "Bring One For The Chipper" event held across the state.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4.

There are several sites in Cobb County where you can take your tree to be chipped up, including the Home Depot on Cumberland Parkway in the Smyrna-Vinings area. In addition to free disposal, Keep Smyrna Beautiful will give residents a free tree seedling while supplies last. You can also pick up some seed packets.

Once all the trees are run through the chipper, free mulch will be available for delivery to local residents. Last year, 160,462 trees were recycled across the state as part of Bring One For The Chipper. 67,715 of those trees came from the Metro Atlanta area alone.

Please make sure your tree is empty of ornaments and is brought to the disposal site without the tree base. Wreaths and garlands cannot be recycled through the chipper.
