Cobb County State Court was established in 1970 to relieve the burden of the Superior Court but has limited jurisdiction. As a state court, Cobb County State Court oversees misdemeanor violations, including traffic cases, and all civil actions in which the Superior Court does not have jurisdiction.
Today, the State Court has 12 full-time judges, each elected to four-year terms in nonpartisan, countywide elections.
