When taxes are imposed on various industries then to stay in business the prices increase on theRead More consumer! Obamacare , gas taxes, payroll taxes, tolls, the proposed soda and candy tax , your tobacco tax is 75% of what the product really costs! Commercial Property tax increases! Do you people see what's going on here? This country is being destroyed by the Democrats! It is starting to resemble The a Soviet Union! We should change the name of this country to the USSA!

And all this time i thought it was Pork Barrel spending.

Mark, Your words are absolutely disgusting. Please do not use this comment thread as a vehicle toRead More spew your racist mentality. And for your information, food-borne illnesses come from agriculture, period. All around the world, including in the U.S. Lastly, your hatred for people of colour does not mean that you understand disease, at all. Good luck in life.

So, "Los Angeles-based sports and entertainment company American Enterprise Group, has removedRead More itself from consideration ...[leaving] one development team— Atlanta developers Fuqua Development LLC, Pope & Land Enterprises Inc., Pollack Shores Real Estate Group, and Batson Cook Development Co. — still in the running." I posit the educated reader should read between the lines; I find myself asking more and more, is this recent development correlated to a saga of undisclosed, and secret, financial fiduciary interests of private and corporate entities as a result of secret smoked filled back room politics ... reminiscent of Tammany Hall's "Boss Tweed's regime? If so, perhaps the LA based company doesn't like their chances of getting a fair deal from "the good ole boys network" after seeing how the Cobb Board of Commissioners conducts business i.e. unethically. Again, I'm not necessarily opposed to the stadium, although I don't see it doing anything but causing me higher taxes and traffic headaches. And I NEVER believe a politician when (s)he says "your taxes will not be raised." Even though the reality is taxes shouldn't be raised ...what needs to be done is to better manage the tax revenue already available. And it can be done. Specifically, what I didn't like, and will never forget, is how all of the commissioners, except for Commissioner Lisa Cupid, acted in an unethical manner visa vi the stadium process and the secrecy involved therein. Using a 3-facet test for ethical decision making a decision or action must be fair, balanced, and legal, ALL THREE. If one facet is missing then the decision or process IS NOT ETHICAL. Hence, the process of the stadium was not ethically conducted from the outset as not giving the voters an opportunity to vote on such a substantive, long-lasting, and expensive measure can't be viewed as either fair OR balanced ...even if it was legal. Having said that, casting the sole dissenting vote on principle alone, at least we've got one Commissioner, Lisa Cupid, who takes ethical practice in public service to heart.
Richard "the Equalizer" Pellegrino April 5, 2014 at 12:02 pm
Exactly right Stephen...and look for ethics complaints being filed soon regarding the issue youRead More raised and others. Some people just don't get that the use of public funds and how it is done is a world different from the use of private monies and investments...and that discrepancy and difference has landed many elected representatives in prison.

Georgia ranks first in the nation for growth in women-owned businesses. File|Patch
Adriana April 5, 2014 at 07:45 am
What a misleading headline....top in growth is different than top on business! If we went from 1Read More woman owned business to 2 that would be 100% growth. Just sayin'. Lame, Patch, lame.

when the majority of Home Despots sales are derived from products made in american factories, onRead More american soil, made by americans, i might think kindly of every one of these corporate shills and conmen. until then, they ARE the problem, just as General Motors had factories in Nazi germany making war vehicles that helped kill american soldiers. split a company apart with some clever paperwork and then say its 'not ours' is a crime, and a despicable, fraudulent representation of life values. if these types want to 'give back' to america, they can start building factories, products and create jobs here, too bad they don't know a thing about the real world.
Harry Ball March 20, 2014 at 03:06 pm
Why make things in America if you are forced to pay outrageous taxes or have to deal with a unionRead More that pushes for ridiculous wages for unskilled labor?
Forward.... March 20, 2014 at 04:03 pm
Unions got you a 40 hour work week, 2 weeks paid vacations, child labor laws and decent wages.Read More Unskilled labor are the CEO's of these major corporations, banks, hedge funds who get uninformed people like you to carry their water, and won't even give you a drink. The 10 most profitable corporations in this county pay less than 9% and over 2/3 don't pay federal corp. taxes what-so-ever. Some even get a refund with all of the loop holes. Union have been dismantled, that protected peoples right to fair wages. Corporations continue to profit billions of dollars, but the trickle doesn't happen, never has and won't while they have their puppets carrying their water as if one day, they're going to make you rich, rich, rich. And Harry, your Romney point about 47% of people don't pay taxes is so 2012! They don't pay federal income tax because they are the working poor and live in poverty.

I'm not afraid to speak the truth either. Ted Turner is as crazy as a s---house rat.

I wonder why someone, like Octo Slash, feels the need to go on Patch and post comments usingRead More vulgarity, even when it is disguised vulgarity?

JMichael, your points may be taken a little more seriously and you may find people more willing toRead More debate if you ditched the name calling. "DittoHeads", "ChristoClowns", etc.
Harry Ball March 7, 2014 at 01:50 pm
From Merriam-Webster debt noun \ˈdet\ : an amount of money that you owe to a person, bank,Read More company, etc. : the state of owing money to someone or something : the fact that you have been influenced or helped by someone or something The White House website proves that debt has DOUBLED under Obama and the Democrats watch. The Democrats controlled Senate and the House of Reps on January 3rd, 2007 so quit trying to blame Bush.
jMichael March 7, 2014 at 02:04 pm
Well, Jon. It is my understanding that "DittoHeads" is what Rush's followers callRead More themselves. I think I am correct here. [ ] As regards "ChristoClowns" .. there is no more apt expression for the Bachmannites of the GOP. They are a clownish embarrassment to Christianity, to the GOP, and to this Nation. I surely would not regard them as "Christian, nor would anyone else who walks the Path of Jesus. They merit no greater regard than did the Scribes and Pharisees [Matthew 23:...] "ChristoClowns" it is. And if the GOP manages to get its act together, these Preposterous Pretenders will be sent packing before they drag the party into a ditch too deep. 2014/2016 will tell the tale. [ ] i'll give you (and Harry) the last words. Thanks for your engagement with me. jMichael

The customers/dividend payouts were supposed to be well over $200 million, this sets a terribleRead More precedent for future lawsuits. String it out, make em' settle for less. $100 million plus bargain for Cobb EMC.

I agree 100%! I think Food Network, and all those who dropped her like a hot potato, should beRead More ashamed of themselves. I wonder if they would be proud of everything they have said behind closed doors over their lifetime! How petty can we get??!!
