Boy, Brian. OK, let's try this. Faye DiMassimo, the head of Cobb Transportation Dept. and CobbRead More Chairman Tim Lee have both repeatedly reference the Alternative Analysis Study, which will not be completed until 2013, about a year after the TSPLOST vote. Only then will Cobb know which projects will be funded and which will be CHANGED. We do not know yet if there will be a train or bus or whatever else. We do not know where the route would be if it is a train, what kind of train, the cost, or anything else. The AA study will decide that. And TIA/TSPLOST law allows projects to be changed if they are found to be "infeasible."

Oh, I forgot to mention that Tim Lee admitted and Tad Leithead (head of the ARC and the CumberlandRead More CID) that this is a 30 year project list. Only part of projects would be built, like the train line, if there is one. and many projects must be completed with federal dollars, which Tom Price tells us aren't there.

Can you give examples of any projects that don't have matching federal dollars? I know for sure thatRead More many of the S. Cobb improvements have matching dollars, as they are part of SAFETEA. The Windy Hill improvements have SAFETEA. These are unspent federal earmarks which will go away if not used, but it requires some matching state funds which haven't been put forth yet because the state doesn't collect enough in taxes. Usually, on projects like this, the federal government funds are available first. It's GA that can't pull the funds to fund the building of its own federal earmarks.

My condolences to the family, If you would like to know how to prevent this from happening again, orRead More how Chris's death could have been avoided, then visit the Swim IT, swim safety device for triathletes. It is USAT and Ironman approved, and would have prevented this sensless tragedy. Thanks, Rick www.myswimit.com

Thank you so much for this piece!! I am one of Roy Hall's grandaughter's. My mother, who was workingRead More in the garden, and grandmother have read this article and appreciate it immensely. His garden was so dear to him, and knowing that all these people appreciated it is such an amazing thing to hear. Thank you for this article! I know he would appreciate this immensely!

My daughter and I loved watching this garden grow each year...and it inspired us, now we areRead More gardeners too! Our thoughts go to Mr. Hall's family.

I always called him "Paw-Paw". I stopped many years ago to talk and get some garden adviseRead More and he always was the nicest man- never met a stranger. I wondered if the garden was just for his family, but he said "Come on down to the house and I'll show you my tomatoes". I met his family and now have become friends with them too. He did sell me some tomatoes but he gave me beans, potatoes, corn and sweet potatoes as well. He had a heart as big as a his garden and loved to tell stories of when he was a cotton farmer. He even has a cotton plant growing in his vegetable garden just to remind him of his roots. His wife and children and grandchildren will miss him dearly and try to keep his garden going as much as they are able but we, his friends, will miss the kind-hearted, laughing, story telling, throw up your hand and wave man we all knew as "Paw-Paw"

Unfortunately Dolores, I have to say that until we walk in the shoes of our police officers who riskRead More their lives every day dealing with a part of society that most do not even want to think about, it is hard to say what they should do. However, I will add on a personal note that having a very dear friend of mine who is a Dekalb County Police Officer, almost loose his life because a heavily intoxicated man stabbed him an inch and half from his jugular vein made me realize that his training and decisions are important and need to be respected because I could never fully understand what an officer goes through in a moment like that. As for this teenager who lost his life, may his death not be in vain. I hope his peers rally among themselves and stay away from drugs and the people who sell them, because clearly you never know what may happen.

P.F. I would like to know where you got your information from. I have known Tendai since middleRead More school as a friend on my son. Two weeks before this incident he came up to me hugging me and giving "mom" a hug. This behavior is no where near the person that I know. Considering that the police have retracted their story numerous times since the story broke...I don't believe a word of it. We are all extremely hurt and angry that another one of our beloved youth was taken away for foolishness. Period.
Paul Smyrna April 4, 2012 at 06:40 pm
I don't disgree that it's a shame another youth was killed. However, I don't blame the officers. IRead More personally know one of the officers who was there in the parking lot and got hit with stattered glass from the window he shot out. Wait till they release the 911 call and the radio traffic from that night. You will then have a better understanding of what happened. It's lucky that we only have one dead from this and not three.
