The Cobb County Police Department needs the public's help.
The Cobb County Police Department is looking for the suspect in a Friday night armed robbery at Georgia Auto Pawn near Smyrna. At approximately 6 p.m., a heavyset man walked into the business at 2000 South Cobb Dr., flashed a silver and black revolver and demanded money from the cash register, said Officer Mike Bowman, spokesman for the police department. The suspect fled the business in an unknown direction after taking an unknown amount of cash. The suspect, described as a 6-foot-2 black man, was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, gloves and a ski mask. For the third time in as many weeks, authorities are investigating an armed robbery at a Cobb-area Waffle House. The latest incident occurred just after 11 p.m. Monday night at the Waffle House at 4458 Atlanta Rd., said Officer Mike Bowman, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department. Two men with silver handguns demanded money from the cash register, then fled the area on foot in an unknown direction after they received an undisclosed amount of money, he said. He's been arrested in connection with the armed robberies of three Smyrna Subway locations.
Social media helped the Smyrna Police Department catch a Kennesaw man wanted in connection with the armed robberies of three Subway restaurants. On Feb. 1, Smyrna authorities posted surveillance footage of the suspect on the city's Facebook page and asked the public to call the police department with any leads. That move provided detectives with the break that they needed in the case. Someone recognized the man in the footage as 30-year-old John Paul Wigart, said Officer Michael E. Smith, the spokesman for the department. Wigart was arrested this week and charged with three counts of armed robbery and three counts of possession of firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies. The Cobb County Police Department is looking for the man who entered the Kroger at 4715 Atlanta Rd. just after 9:30 p.m. Monday, produced a handgun and demanded money from the manager. The man, who was last seen wearing baggy, dark-colored jeans and a tan, hooded jacket, fled the store with an unknown amount of money, said Officer Michael Bowman, the department's spokesman. He described the suspect as a black man with a bald head and a medium complexion who appears to be about 40 years old. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 770-499-3945.

Smyrna Police are asking citizens to help identify a suspect in the armed robbery of two Smyrna Subway restaurants on the night of Jan. 23. Officers responded to the Subway restaurant located at 2550 Cobb Pkwy after receiving a report of an armed robbery. Approximately 20 minutes later, officers responded to a second armed robbery at the Subway restaurant located at 2517 Spring Rd, said Smyrna police spokesman Michael Smith. The Cobb County Police Departmen is investigating an aggravated assault, armed robbery and burglary which occurred Friday morning at 2345 Cobb Parkway in the Smyrna area. Investigators said the perpetrator entered the residence at Kenwood Creek Apartments while the victim was sleeping. The suspect assaulted the victim and then ransacked the apartment in an effort to look for valuables. No known items of value were taken. The suspect, described as a black male, last seen wearing a mask, black short-sleeve t-shirt and black nylon-style pants, fled the area after the incident, according to Cobb police. An armed robbery occurred Thursday night at Wellington Point Apartments on Manor Terrace in Smyrna, according to the the Cobb County Police Department. Investigators said a female victim was approached in the parking lot at the apartment complex by two males who demanded her purse and cell phone. When the victim did not respond to the demands in a timely manner, one of the suspects struck the her in the head with a handgun. The suspects then fled the scene in an older model Honda. Cobb police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday night at a gas station in Vinings.
The Cobb County Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred around 10:30 p.m. Monday at the BP gas station on Cobb Parkway near Paces Mill Road. According to investigators, an armed male entered the gas station and pulled out a handgun while threatening an employee. The employee opened the cash register and the perpetrator took an undisclosed amount of cash from it. The man then “calmly” walked back to his Jeep and was last seen driving northbound on Paces Mill Road. The suspect is described as a 5'10'' black male, approximately 20-30 years of age, and appears to be heavy set and “light skinned”, according to a Wednesday release by Cobb police.
