It is early November, but a countdown to this year's holiday happenings at Vinings Jubilee has started.

Vinings has marked the start of the holiday season with the lighting of a Christmas tree for the past 40 years. For 26 of those years friends and families have gathered around in celebration to light that tree at Vinings Jubilee. This year's Christmas Tree Lighting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29 at Vinings Jubilee Tower Stage. Like a scene from the North Pole, there will be train and pony rides for the kids, prizes, face painting, balloon twisting, festive music and holiday treats. Not even Santa Claus would miss this event; kids can tell him which presents they would like to see under their tree this year and pose for photos on his lap.
A quick peek at what's happening at the Smyrna-based non-profit community hospital operated by Adventist Health System as a joint venture with Emory Healthcare.
The Foundation of Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna will hold its 10th annual Holiday Home Tour, on Sunday, Dec. 4 from noon to 6:00 p.m. The tour will feature homes in the Smyrna-Vinings area. Each home will be decorated for the holiday season, highlighting the talents of local designers and decorators. The Marietta Daily Journal, Harry’s Farmers Market and Community Bank of the South serve as co-sponsors for this year’s event. Proceeds from this year’s annual Holiday Home Tour go to the purchase of Digital Mammography equipment for Emory-Adventist Hospital. Admission is $20 per person.
