Cobb Fire to Help Burn Survivors

The “Give Burns the Boot” fundraising drive starts Friday.

Cobb County firefighters will be at local grocery stores and other businesses across the county for the next three Fridays to raise money for burn survivors. The “Give Burns the Boot” fundraising drive will be held April 26, May 3 and May 10, said Denell Boyd, the spokeswoman for Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services. "Every station will go in their territory to different locations that give them permission," she said. Most stations are collecting donations at local Kroger grocery stores, while others will head to Chick-fil-A, the Town Center at Cobb food court and the Austell Walmart Supercenter, Boyd said. Cobb Fire To The Rescue—of Fellow Firefighers [VIDEO]

The West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department in New York state will soon receive a fire truck donated Wednesday by Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services.

A former Cobb County fire truck will have a new home in New York later this month. Officials from Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services held Wednesday morning a ceremony that saw the department donating a surplus fire engine—a 1992 Pierce Arrow Red Pumper with 177,292 miles on it—to the West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department, which is based in Howard Beach, N.Y. Smyrna Police and Firefighters recognized during Public Safety Appreciation Week

Cobb Officer Brett Gossett named the Cobb Chamber's Public Safety Employee of the Year on Monday.

The Cobb Chamber of Commerce has named county police Officer Brett Gossett, “an exemplary model of the young law enforcement professional,” its Public Safety Employee of the Year. Gossett, a trainer for active shooter drills, received the award Monday morning during the Chamber’s annual Public Safety Appreciation Breakfast at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, kicking off the 13th annual Public Safety Appreciation Week. Among those nominated from the Smyrna Police Department were Officer Glenn Goodwald and administrative assistant Desiree’ Causey.
