UPDATE: Police say the driver of an SUV that struck a Vinings apartment building will be charged for driving without insurance. The driver of the vehicle, whose name has not been released at this time, told officers at the scene that he lost control of his vehicle and careened into the stairwell of a Mission Ridge apartment building in Vinings. Before colliding with the building the SUV struck a curb, which police say prevented the driver from going further into the structure. There was only one person in the building at the time, but not in the apartment that was struck. Neither the occupant nor the driver was injured. Police say Lisbeth Guzman-Lopez's two- and three-year-old children where found playing in a busy roadway while she was at the store.
Smyrna police say a 20-year-old Smyrna woman was charged with negligence after she left her two- and three-year-old children unattended while she went to the store. Officer Michael Smith, Smyrna’s Police Department’s public information officer, said Cobb County police initially responded to a call about children playing in the roadway Tuesday, April 10. When they arrived at Herodian Way off Cobb Parkway, the toddlers were found in the street unsupervised and police realized it was in Smyrna’a jurisdiction. A Cobb County police officer fatally shot a naked man wielding a weapon at an East Cobb apartment complex Tuesday night. Cobb police received a call of shots fired at the Riverside House Apartments on Shadowood Parkway about 7:40 p.m., The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. A naked, armed man confronted officers outside an apartment, police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce told WSB-TV. “He made an aggressive move toward those officers,” Pierce said on the Channel 2 Action News This Morning, and the officers opened fire. The naked man died at the scene. Cobb police charged 17-year-old Abdul Griffin with armed robbery after he and two other males allegedly robbed a Marietta Pizza Hut.
Abdul Griffin, a 17-year-old Smyrna resident, is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center after Cobb police allege he was involved in an armed robbery at a Marietta Pizza Hut. Investigators said three masked males entered the restaurant at 250 Windy Hill Road Wednesday, March 8. One of the individuals pointed a handgun at a female employee who ran from the building. The suspects took her purse and the cash drawer before the fleeing the building. Unbeknownst to the suspects, a Pizza Hut employee followed them to a house on Dewey Lane about a half a mile from the scene. Police arrived soon after. UPDATE Monday, Feb. 20 Cobb Police identified the driver of the speeding Cadillac that crashed on an Interstate 75 entrance ramp as 17-year-old Derrick Pritchett of Stone Mountain, Ga. Police would not identify the 16-year-old passenger as he is a juvenile. The accident occurred Saturday, Feb. 18 after Pritchett evaded police after they said he committed several traffic violations. Pritchett was taken to Kennestone Wellstar Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 16-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. A speeding Cadillac that eluded Cobb Police early Saturday morning crashed, overturned and caught fire on an Interstate 75 entrance ramp, leaving two people dead and another passenger hospitalized. Cobb Police are asking for inforation regarding an armed robbery that occurred about Monday, Feb. 6 just outside Smyrna city limits. A black male who appeared to be about 5-foot-10-inches tall and described as having a skinny build entered Discount Store located at 371 Pat Mell Road in Marietta at about 9:15 a.m. The man produced a handgun and demanded money from the victim. The woman handed the man some of the money from the cash drawer at which point the perpetrator demanded more and struck her in the head with the handgun. UPDATE FEB. 7 Smyrna Police are reporting that three arrests were made Saturday outside EGAS Inc., a youth outreach group housed in the former Piccadilly location at 2781 South Cobb Drive, after a party the group was holding got out of hand. SWAT standoff early Wednesday results in arrest at South Cobb Drive bank.
A day after a news report indicating that a Cobb County grand jury has suggested that county police officers should receive better pay and benefits, Cobb’s finest were just outside Smyrna early Wednesday morning helping thwart a bank robbery. According to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, the bank alarm at the Well’s Fargo located at 2055 South Cobb Drive near Pat Mell Road was set off shortly after 2 a.m. Someone was reportedly spotted inside the building and both Cobb and Smyrna Police surrounded the bank before a SWAT team was brought in. She had these kids at 17 and 18, their are options, Plan B, Abortion and Adoption. She could also try birth control in the first place. Odds are these were her ticket to avoid deportation. There are plenty of people that I know who would adopt these two poor children and cherish them. They would never think of leaving them alone.
