Right in the Community, a Cobb-based nonprofit, opened a new location in South Cobb to help adults and children with developmental disabilities. An opening ceremony was held last week at the newly-completed Sweetwater House located on North Avenue in Austell. Cobb District 4 Commissioner Lisa Cupid spoke at the event and attended the ribbon cutting ceremony. The Sweetwater House is funded by HUD's Section 811 Housing Program. It will service four individuals, and is the 24th house opened by Right in the Community to serve as affordable, accessible housing for adults with developmental disabilities. Congressman David Scott (GA-13), in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Treasury and Housing and Urban Development (HUD), announced the Making Home Affordable “Help for Homeowners Event” at the Cobb Galleria Centre 1-8 p.m. this Friday. Homeowners who are struggling to make mortgage payments or refinance should attend to meet in-person with mortgage servicers and HUD-approved housing counselors for assistance at no cost.
