Head to downtown Smyrna this weekend for the 2013 Spring Jonquil Festival.
Looking for fun activities for the whole family or simply in a festive mood? Don't miss the 2013 Spring Jonquil Festival this Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28, in the Village Green in downtown Smyrna. The Spring Jonquil Festival has been a tradition in the community for 24 years. This year, more than 175 arts and crafts vendors will be featured, as well as local non-profits and festive food from area restaurants. Event hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, and 12-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 28. Admission is free, and entertainment includes Peter Hart's Atlanta Puppet Show, live music including J. The 2013 Jonquil City Jog 5K will be held this weekend in downtown Smyrna.
Lace up your shoes and get ready for the 2013 Jonquil City Jog 5K in downtown Smyrna this weekend. At the annual Peachtree Qualifier race this Saturday, April 27, you will get to run or walk for fun, prizes, and to support local schools. On-site registration will take place 7 a.m. at the Smyrna City Hall located at 2800 King Street, followed by the race at 8 a.m. To participate, you can click here to register now at Active.com through 6 p.m. this Thursday, April 25, or register in person at the Smyrna Community Center by noon on Friday, April 26. The 5K Fit Group from Emory-Adventist Hospital ran in the Jonquil Jog on Saturday, April 28. Many members of the group participated in a series of classes called “The 5K Fit Series” that started in January 2012 and concluded in April. The classes offered the participants helpful information on training for a 5K. For many of the participants, this was their first 5K.

Here's a roundup of activities in and around Smyrna-Vinings including a festival, chances to get active and give back.
Have Fun The Spring Jonquil Festival is this Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 19. The festival gets underway Saturday at 10 a.m. More than 150 arts and crafts vendors participate in the festival annually. This year’s entertainment includes a puppet show by Peter Hart and a musical performance by Scott Thompson, one of the founding members of Peachtree Station. Kids can play in an array of inflatables, see a fire truck up close and create sand art. The festival begins Sunday at noon and admission is free both days. Atkins Park Tavern holds its 10th annual Crawfish Boil Saturday and Sunday beginning each day at 1 p.m. The chef at Atkins will prepare fresh crawfish and there’s even a rumor that Oysterfest was such a hit that they’ve shipped …

Your last chance to register online for the Jonquil City Jog is Thursday, April 26 at 6 p.m. This fast, flat 5K is a Peachtree Road Race Qualifier. Local Government News: Smyrna City Council meets Monday at 5:30 p.m. for a Committee of the Whole meeting at City Hall in the conference room. The meeting is open to the public. Because there are five Mondays in April this year Council will not meet again till its regular meeting Monday, May 7. Council Representative Teri Anulewicz will hold a Fifth Monday meeting for Ward 3 residents at the Smyrna Public Library in the conference room from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m Monday, April 30. State Sen. Argyle's annual Walk-a-Mile event is coming up on Saturday, April 28th, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Come out for a morning of family fun!
