Area Closures, Detours and Road Work Updates

Check out the latest updates on road constructions, delays and detours around Cobb County.

Here are the latest updates on road work being done around Cobb County, according to Commissioners Bob Ott, Helen Goreham, JoAnn Birrell and Lisa Cupid. Davidson Road to Willow Point Pkwy Willow Point Pkwy to Timber Ridge Road Karls Gate Drive to Lake Fjord Pass GDOT I-285 Top-End Resurfacing Project Expect delays as Georgia DOT continues working on a $56 million resurfacing project on I-285. Crews will resurface 10 miles of I-285 between Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County and Ashford Dunwoody Road in DeKalb County. Most work will take place nights and weekends. GDOT: Long Delays on I-285, I-75 This Weekend

Expect major delays and backups on highways as crews work on resurfacing projects.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is warning motorists of long delays and major backups in both directions on the I-285 top end this weekend as crews work on the mainline in both directions and close several ramps as part of the massive resurfacing project, weather permitting. All weekend, three right lanes will be closed eastbound from I-75 to Long Island drive, and three right lanes will be closed westbound from Northside Drive to Powers Ferry Road. Crews will also close and reopen several ramps along the top end. During the ramp closures, signed detours will be in place. Cobb Road Work, Lane Closures

Take a look at the road work being done around Cobb County this week, Monday, Oct. 29 through Friday, Nov. 2.

The following road work will be done in Cobb County from Monday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Nov. 2, according to JoAnn Birrell, Woody Thompson and Helen Goreham. NB Barrett Pkwy (Burnt Hickory Road to US 41: You can expect periodic lane closures northbound between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. between Burnt Hickory Road and Cobb Parkway (US 41).  One lane will remain open at all times as the contractor performs grading operations, wall construction and storm drainage work. Various utility companies will be relocating services which should not affect your service.
