The staff of Vinings’ own Salon Deco were proudly celebrating on Tuesday afternoon their upcoming appearance on the Bravo network’s reality show “Tabatha’s Salon Takeover." Soup's on at spic-and-span clean Meehan's

Patch rounds up some recent health inspection scores for establishments in Smyrna and Vinings.

Here are some Cobb County food service inspection scores, conducted by the Cobb & Douglas Public Health Department, for establishments in our community. First up is Meehan’s Public House in Vinings, which scored a perfect 100 on its inspection last month. Well done! Of course, Meehan’s has been serving great traditional Irish fare and cold pints to the Vinings community for about eight years and always promises to keep your pints and stomachs full! This month, chef Brandon Holte wants to fill your belly with soup as “Soup Wars’’ is underway at all three Meehan’s locations (downtown, Sandy Springs). In January, each pub location will feature special soups that will range anywhere from $6 to $9 and can be purchased with a sandwich or salad…

Happy "Nein"th Anniversary Meehan's in Vinings

The Tuesday celebration takes on a German feel as one of Atlanta's best Irish pubs gets its party on. But will David Hasselhoff show up?

You thought the month would slip by without Patch mentioning any kind of Oktoberfest shenanigans, right? Nein! Meehan’s Public House in Vinings is splashing out on their “Nein”th Anniversary Party Tuesday and plans for all things German to be celebrated. Beginning at 7 p.m., Meehan’s will morph into a beer hall with specials from Konig Ludwig and Warsteiner to make this an Oktoberfest to remember. Smoked bratwurst complete with sauerkraut? Chef Branden’s got you covered. Other German Oktoberfest favorites will abound as well: soft pretzels, wienerschitzel, spaetzle, and more. And if you only know David Hasselhoff as the slightly cheesy guy from Knightrider and Baywatch, you just might be in for a surprise. Staff also promises goofy games, …

Celebrate the South's Favorite Beverage

June 10 is National Iced Tea Day.

Cool off and honor a Southern staple at the same time because today is National Iced Tea Day. Although it seems like a tall glass of sweet iced tea is as Southern as pecans, hound dogs, pick-up trucks and Mama, it actually got its start in the Midwest. According to agricultural historian, Lydnon N. Irwin, iced tea was born in 1904 at the St. Louis World’s Fair. The owner of a tea plantation wanted to show off his product, but summers in St. Louis are just as hot as they are in Atlanta. None of the fair-goers were interested in his hot tea, so he iced it and the South’s favorite beverage was born. Kendall Harper, owner of TeaFuse Tea House, is something of a tea expert. She offers 70 different kinds of tea at her Vinings store. Harper …

Meehan's holds Southern fundraiser to aid tornado victims

Proceeds from Tuesday's southern diner menu and drink specials will go to the Red Cross and aid in their effort to help tornado victims across the south.

It had already been an extreme deadly spring long before last month's F5 tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri and killed 142 people and damaged 7,000 homes. The south was hit hard in April, as tornadoes ripped across seven southern states, killing at least 337 people throughout Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia. Tuesday at Meehan’s Public House in Vinings, the 101 Concepts Restaurant has created an inspired southern menu for a “Southern Hospitality Fundraiser” to assist Southerners who have been so dramatically impacted by the effects of the recent tornadoes. Beginning at 5 p.m., Meehan’s will feature a southern diner menu and drink specials and all proceeds will go to the Red Cross and aid in their effort to help tornado …
