The weekly Smyrna Food Truck Tuesday starts at 5 p.m. and runs through 8:30 p.m. at Taylor-Brawner Park. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Smyrna Education Foundation to benefit the city's public schools. See who's serving dinner tonight at the park: Public parking adjacent to the playground and mini ampitheatre will stop shortly before 5 p.m. to allow for safe and swift setup of the trucks. Additional parking is available at Community Bank of the South, Covenant Christian School and Smyrna Presbyterian Church. Because parking is limited walking is encouraged.

Now that it is getting dark earlier, Smyrna Food Truck Tuesdays have new seasonal hours for your convenience. The weekly event now starts from 5 p.m. and runs through 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday at Taylor-Brawner Park. Food trucks will gather in the lower parking spaces adjacent to the playground and mini ampitheatre. If you visit the play area or park in that area on Tuesdays, please remember that parking will stop shortly before 5 p.m. to allow for safe and swift setup of the trucks. The City of Smyrna encourages residents to walk or bike to Food Truck Tuesdays, so that more visitors can park close to the playground.

Since they first began in July, Smyrna Food Truck Tuesdays have been regarded as a runaway success both in Smyrna and beyond. Now Smyrna city officials have to decide if the event should be extended indefinitely. Smyrna Food Truck Tuesdays even attracted the attention of the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Food and More Blogger Jon Watson who was impressed by the more than 1,000 people in attendance at Smyrna Food Truck Tuesday calling it “more than I’d ever seen at any one ITP event.” “It was obvious that there is a need that they are filling within the community,” he said. But when Smyrna City Council approved Smyrna Food Truck Tuesdays back in June they voted to permit the events through October. Now Council and city staff must decide…

Completely agree with Michelle. Keep the food trucks but require them to pay a fee equivalent to whatever 1/7th of a week's fee is for local restaurants. Another idea would be to reduce the number of out-of-Smyrna trucks and allow local businesses some space to set up stands like they do at the "Taste of Smyrna".
