Smyrna Auxiliary to Distribute Poppies for Veterans

Support your local veterans by participating in the Distribution of Poppies and the 2013 Smyrna Memorial Day Ceremony.

This Memorial Day weekend, help support local veterans and their families by participating in the Distribution of Poppies organized by the Auxiliary of Smyrna's American Legion Post 160 and the Memorial Day Ceremony held by the City of Smyrna. The Memorial Day Ceremony will kick off at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27 at the 20th Century Veterans Memorial located at 800 King Street in downtown Smyrna. Following the ceremony, there will also be a barbecue cook-out open to the public held at the Post 160 office located at 160 Legion Drive. This Saturday, Sunday and also at the Memorial Day Ceremony, members of the Auxiliary at the American Legion Post 160 will be distributing poppies at the following locations: "[People] can get involved and …

Find out how you can celebrate Veterans Day this weekend and support your local veterans by participating in the Distribution of Poppies.

Note: The City of Smyrna is holding a Veterans Day ceremony at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, at Brinkley Park, in addition to the Veterans Day service held by The American Legion Post 160 at 11 a.m. outside of the Legion office on 160 Legion Drive. This week's Cobb, Douglas and Paulding Weekend Spotlight features an area Veterans Day event in Smyrna where residents can show their support for local veterans. The 5th Annual Smyrna Veterans Day Service will be held this Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at Brinkley Park next to The American Legion Post 160 office at 160 Legion Drive SE in Smyrna. Veterans Day Ceremony is Friday in Smyrna

Everyone is invited to Brinkley Park to help remember those who have served and are serving to preserve our freedom and our heritage.

On Friday, the Smyrna Veterans Committee, a coordinating body sponsored by the City of Smyrna, American Legion Post 160, the Veterans Memorial Association of Smyrna, and the Smyrna Rotary Club, will present the Annual Veterans Day ceremony. The 11 a.m. event, which will be held at Brinkley Park, 1270 Hunter Street in Smyrna, is open to the public and veterans and families are invited. Everyone is invited to help remember those who have served and are serving to preserve our freedom and our heritage. Speakers include Joseph “Doc” Masterson, Sr., Col. Ret., US Army, Korea and Vietnam Veteran and Bob Babcock, Capt., US Army, Vietnam Veteran. The Belmont Hills Elementary School Honors Chorus and the Osborne High School Band will be providing …
