Georgia Tornadoes Cause $75 Million in Damage

Nearly 500 homes and commercial properties in Bartow County were damaged as a result of the EF-3 that ripped through Adairsville and continued to Gordon County.

Tornadoes that struck Georgia last week caused an estimated $75 million in insured losses, Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said. "That figure will rise as new claims are reported," Hudgens said in a release. "Damage to the Daiki Corporation manufacturing plant in Adarisville was quite extensive." A final count late this week indicated 442 residential structures and 30 commercial properties—not individual businesses—in Bartow County were damaged, The Daily Tribune News reports. Twenty-two homes and six commercial properties were completely destroyed.
